What on Earth happened to Sam Beal?
The New York Giants selected the Western Michigan cornerback in the third round of the 2018 NFL Supplemental Draft. He was highly touted, making him the highest supplemental pick in the league since 2012. To secure his services, the Giants ultimately forfeited their traditional third-round selection in the 2019 draft.
Unfortunately, severe injuries heavily derailed his professional football career right from his initial rookie training camp. Beal missed his entire first year after undergoing surgery to repair a badly torn labrum in his shoulder.
Furthermore, he opted out of the 2020 football season entirely due to personal health concerns related to the pandemic. He appeared in only 9 games for New York, recording 27 tackles.
The Giants eventually waived the cornerback in November 2021 following a series of disappointing legal struggles. Years later, things got spooky.
Former Third-Round Draft Selection Sam Beal Has Completely Vanished

Former NFL cornerback Sam Beal has been missing for nearly fifteen months after vanishing in July 2025. The former New York Giants draft pick unexpectedly drove from Michigan to Virginia Beach.
On July 13, 2025, he told his girlfriend over the phone that he was planning on heading back home. That brief call marked the absolute last time anyone heard from the 29-year-old athlete. His girlfriend’s borrowed car was later recovered abandoned near the oceanfront. Inside the vehicle, investigators discovered Beal’s shoes, socks, and sand on the front passenger floor.
Furthermore, Sam Beal’s family remains completely desperate for answers and closure regarding his mysterious whereabouts. His sister, Essence Zhané, publicly pleaded on social media, “We’re in desperate need of support on all ends.”
She added that she just needs this information to land in the right direction to gain answers. Consequently, law enforcement agencies in both Michigan and Virginia continue to investigate the baffling, unresolved disappearance.
