Troy Aikman Signals Free Agency After Season

The legendary broadcasting duo of Troy Aikman and Joe Buck might be reaching the end of the line on Monday Night Football. Even though their on-air chemistry is unmatched, looming contract negotiations are throwing a wrench into their future together.
If things fall through, we could see a shake-up that nobody could’ve seen coming. Consequently, it will be a tough pill to swallow for fans, especially since Aikman’s sharp color commentary balances perfectly with Buck’s professional play-by-play style.
Amid the argument that the two reportedly had on Monday Night Football, Troy Aikman broke his silence about it this week.
Aikman confirmed Thursday that the ESPN announcer will look for “his next landing spot” after he calls the Super Bowl in 2027.
“There’s probably a time and a place for all that,” Aikman said on 96.7 The Ticket in regards to earlier reports.

“I don’t know if now is the time. I don’t know if it’s hard to figure out kind of what happened. I’ll broadcast through this season, and I’ll be a free agent at the end of the year and kind of see what happens. I’m looking forward to whatever the rest of this season does hold and the Super Bowl and all that, and where my next landing spot may be.”
The part where he says, “where my next landing spot may be,” rings a lot of bells about what Aikman is thinking.
Buck and Aikman have called games together for 25 years and have described themselves as close friends. It seems the end is near, and we may just have to deal with it whether we like it or not.
