Greg Olsen’s future could put him in a privileged position for the 2027 season. The retired tight end excelled at his second career, becoming one of the most respected NFL analysts out there with Fox.

Tom Brady replaced him as the network’s lead NFL analyst, but that hasn’t stopped Olsen. He even beat Brady to win a major award. It seems that his time with Fox is coming to an end, and a giant company could try to make a swing for his services.

Richard Deitsch of The Athletic reported that his future with the network is anything but clear at this point.

“FOX has not had any negotiations with Greg Olsen about a contract beyond this season, per industry sources. Olsen’s contract expires at the end of this NFL season. Something notable is Olsen had exploratory talks with CBS Sports two years ago. He’s already called a Super Bowl and enjoys critical praise. Would be a very attractive free agent.”

After learning that Troy Aikman will be a free agent after the 2026 season and that JJ Watt officially became CBS’ lead NFL analyst, fans started connecting the dots and linking Olsen to a move to Monday Night Football.

“It’s looking like we’re getting Greg Olsen on MNF next year,” one fan said.

“ESPN pairing Greg Olsen with Joe Buck would be the best decision they’ve made in years,” another said.

“While I like Greg Olsen more for the gig, Watt has done a solid job alongside Jim Nantz. I’ll keep praying that ESPN goes with logic over theatrics and puts Olsen on MNF in 2027,” another wrote.

Olsen was mentioned as one of multiple candidates to replace Aikman. It seems that the possibility has grown after the CBS-Watt move.
