Report reveals Bengals’ asking price for Trey Hendrickson

The Cincinnati Bengals may be open to trading star edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, but the cost will be high.

Hendrickson is in the final year of his contract, and the Bengals are not guaranteed to be in contention down the stretch. As a result, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport expects Hendrickson to be a “big-time trade target” for a number of teams.

Those teams, however, can expect to be asked for a player and a pick in trade talks.

“As far as what it might take, what I am told is a young player who would help the Bengals this year and into the future, and a future mid-round pick, if the Bengals are even willing to do it,” Rapoport said.

The Bengals’ willingness to trade Hendrickson may have been impacted by their 33-31 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday night, which lifted them to 3-4 on the season. If there is any chance that the Bengals might be able to play their way into the postseason when Joe Burrow is able to return, they might be very reluctant to trade the star edge rusher.

Hendrickson has four sacks this season and posted 17.5 sacks in each of the last two seasons. We know of at least one team that might make a play for him if the Bengals are willing to listen.
