1. Gotta love an English Breakfast!

2. Figuratively… my breakfast was more Tex-Mex. The breakfast burritos were excellent!

3. After a nice morning repast on the patio, it was out to the hammock to watch the game on my tablet (gotta love WiFi boosters!).

4. Nice to finally have that relaxing Sunday we were all looking for.

5. The Rams dominated with outstanding situational football. Instead of mistakes in key spots, the Rams kept drives going, dominated in the Red Zone, and put up roadblocks on third and fourth down on defense.

6. My offensive MVP of the week is Matthew Stafford, who is making a case for league MVP at this point.

7. You also have to give a nod to Davante Adams who, in Puka Nacua’s absence, delivered the Bowler Hat Trick.

8. The real story on offense, though, was the way Stafford spread the ball around like marmalade on a crumpet. Ten receivers caught passes.

9. As for the defense… how often do you see a team hold an opponent to 7 points without generating a single turnover?

10. The key was 3rd and 4th down. The Jags converted only 5 of 21 opportunities on those downs.

11. There are several defensive MVP candidates, but I’m going to split the award between Quentin Lake, who contributed 6 tackles, a sack, and 2 passes defended, and Darious Williams, who added 4 pass break-ups.

12. Braden Fiske, who has had a slow start, was very noticeable today, with multiple pressures, a pass defended, and a great read on a screen. If he can heat up after the bye, our front will be even more formidable.

13. How many teams can boast having three edge rushers on rookie contracts who have a total of 15 sacks in 7 games (Byron Young – 9, Jared Verse – 4, Josiah Stewart – 2)?

14. Stewart has been our most consistent rookie so far, but it was great to see first NFL TDs by Terrance Ferguson and Konata Mumpfield.

15. Nate Landman is playing at a Pro Bowl level.

16. At 5-2, the Rams are in a good spot, and now get a well-earned bye week. They should be healthy, hungry and confident for the stretch run.

17. Will we be buyers in the trade market? I’m leaning toward “yes.” Cornerback is the obvious target, notwithstanding the somewhat improved play at the position in recent weeks.

18. Nice to see the placekicking team get a few extra points through with no issues. Hopeful that we can put the early gaffes behind us.

19. In a year in which no team has emerged as a clear favorite, why not dream big?

20. So… catch your breath… enjoy the bye… and let’s keep this going!
