Tensions got a bit high during the UFL opener when Justyn Ross got into an argument with a fan at halftime. The incident happened Friday night at Lynn Family Stadium during the game between the Birmingham Stallions and the Louisville Kings.

The crowd loudly booed the Stallions as they came out of the locker room after halftime. Linebacker Kyahva Tezino reacted by grabbing a drink and throwing it back toward the crowd.

Then things got worse.

A fan said something that upset Ross. He turned around, clearly angry, picked up a drink, and threw it toward the fan. His teammates and coaches stepped in and pulled him away before the situation got out of hand. Security also came in to control things. However, as he was being pulled away, another fan threw a drink at him, which started a bigger fight.

So far, no one from the league or the teams has made a public statement. The video took attention away from what ended up being an exciting finish to the game.

Despite the halftime incident, Ross stepped up when it mattered most. He caught the game-winning touchdown from Matt Corral with under two minutes left. The Stallions won 15-13 in front of a big crowd.

This was the Kings’ first game, and fans brought a lot of energy. But that energy turned tense when the players returned after halftime.

Moreover, Ross has a complex football journey. He joined the Clemson Tigers in 2018 and made an instant impact. As a freshman, he had 46 catches for 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns, including a big game against Alabama in the national championship. He followed that with 66 catches for 865 yards and eight touchdowns in his second year.

His career slowed in 2020 due to Klippel-Feil syndrome, a neck condition. He returned in 2021 but went undrafted. Later, he spent three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs before the team released him in 2025 due to injuries and a suspension.

The Stallions signed him earlier this year, giving him another chance and also he made an impact right away.

The UFL now faces questions about player safety and fan access near locker room areas. Teams may look at tighter controls to avoid similar incidents.
