The Kansas City Chiefs could welcome Tyreek Hill back soon.

The wide receiver, now a free agent, hinted at a return to KC just over a month ago. And with the Miami Dolphins releasing him on Monday, it could become a reality.

The Dolphins are set for an overhaul this offseason. They are expected to part ways with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa not long from now. In the meantime, they’re cutting Hill and EDGE Bradley Chubb.

Hill is thought to be in a precarious position, given the season-ending knee injury he sustained last season.

There’s no telling yet when he will be able to play again, which makes him a risk for potential suitors. However, Dan Treacy of The Sporting News suggests the Chiefs are the most likely to land him.

Treacy ranked the AFC West team No. 1 on a list of the top six landing spots for the veteran wideout, referring to them as the most “natural connection.”

“While there could be reservations about a receiving corps that includes Hill and Rashee Rice, two players who have had their share of off-field issues, the Chiefs’ coaching staff knows how to deal with Hill,” he writes.

Treacy suggests that the team’s re-signing of Eric Bieniemy as offensive coordinator could signal an intention to “get the band back together.”

Going down the list, he has the Carolina Panthers in the No. 2 spot, followed by the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers and New York Jets.

The Giants are probably the more interesting of the five potential destinations outside of Kansas City.

The NFC East team has brought in a respected coach in John Harbaugh. They’ve also hired a familiar face in Matt Nagy as their OC, who worked with Hill in KC for two seasons.
