ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter is now explaining in detail why the Ravens had buyer’s remorse with Maxx Crosby.
In one of the more shocking and dramatic offseason twists in NFL history, the Baltimore Ravens reversed course on the defensive star. The Ravens and Raiders agreed to the trade on Friday night, sending their 2026 and 2027 1st round picks to the Raiders in exchange for Crosby.
Crosby even spoke about playing for a team with a winning culture. Now, he’s back to the perennial losing franchise once again.
“The Baltimore Ravens have backed out of our trade agreement for Maxx Crosby,” the Raiders said in a statement shared to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter’s official X account on Tuesday night. “We will have no further comment at this time.”
“Trade off,” Schefter wrote. “Las Vegas had initially agreed to trade the five-time Pro-Bowl DE to Baltimore in exchange for 2026 and 2027 first-round picks. No longer.”
So what could have happened that led to the sudden change of mind?
The Baltimore Ravens Did Not Like What They Saw With Maxx Crosby’s Physical

Adam Schefter broke everything down over why the Ravens changed their minds. The NFL insider says the teams viewed the severity of his knee completely differently. Crosby had surgery two months ago and was on crutches just last week.

Crosby was in Baltimore on Tuesday to get scans, and based on what they saw, the Ravens did not feel comfortable passing on him on his physical. Even outside doctors consulted, which included the Dallas Cowboys’ doctor.
It was the 1st time in the Ravens franchise history that 1st round picks had been given up in a trade. Now that they have backed out of the deal, that history will have to wait for another day.
