John Harbaugh’s firing has pitted two of the biggest NFL insiders against each other.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Ravens players no longer liked Harbaugh. Some of them seemingly proved it with their social media actions following his departure.

After 18 years leading the franchise, the Ravens’ front office fired John Harbaugh. It came after a disappointing 2025 campaign. It is such a big story that Adam Schefter is going after Ian Rapoport’s reporting of it. McAfee asked Schefter to elaborate on the reporting from Rapoport that Harbaugh had lost the locker room.

Schefter offered his own, entirely different perspective, effectively calling Rapoport’s perspective inaccurate.

“I don’t think that information right there could be any less true,” Adam Schefter said.

“The players coming into his office crying, hugging him, sending him goodbyes, calling him one by one. If they felt that way, why are Mark Andrews and Zay Flowers, and Isaiah Likely, and all these players coming in crying, hugging him, giving these long, warm goodbyes? I’m not buying that.”

Rapoport, who had a tense exchange with fellow insider Jordan Schultz last year, has not responded.

If you’re hoping for John Harbaugh to make a decision quickly after getting fired, you’re going to be disappointed. The Ravens fired Harbaugh on Tuesday after 18 years as their head coach.

That instantly made him an attractive candidate for other head coaching vacancies. Due to his status, he can take his time and be selective about the interviews.

Harbaugh is not expected to conduct any head-coach interviews until next week, according to Adam Schefter. Many have pegged Harbaugh for the New York Giants job, but anything can change.

It will be interesting to see if John Harbaugh drags his feet while teams are running interviews with other candidates. He likely wants to take some time for himself. It’s not easy being fired after pouring in 18 years at any place. Harbaugh has certainly gained enough accolades to take his time with this process.
