AFC Heavyweight Emerging As Favorite To Sign Seahawks Superstar RB Kenneth Walker III In Free Agency

If Super Bowl 60 MVP Kenneth Walker III hits free agency, a perennial AFC contender will be a team to follow in the sweepstakes.
Kenneth Walker III’s rookie contract has expired at the perfect time. He rushed for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns and went off in the postseason, recording 313 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
Walker was named Super Bowl 60 MVP after rushing for 135 yards in the Seahawks’ 29-13 win over the New England Patriots. He also caught two passes for 26 yards.
The Seahawks aren’t expected to use the franchise tag on Walker. If they don’t exercise that option, then the 25-year-old will have the opportunity to test free agency for the first time in his career.
If Walker hits the open market? According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Kansas City Chiefs are a possible threat to sign the reigning Super Bowl hero:
“Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III’s situation with the Seahawks remains an interesting one. Presuming the Seahawks decline to tag Walker, the Chiefs loom as an interesting suitor.
Now, Andy Reid’s history would tell you that Kansas City might be hesitant to do it. But the Chiefs engaged the Jets before the trade deadline on a potential deal for Breece Hall, and GM Brett Veach said at his press conference here that the team will be actively looking to get more explosive in the run game this offseason.”
Breer even floated the idea of Kansas City signing Walker, then using the No. 9 pick on a top wide receiver prospect like Ohio State’s Carnell Tate. Certainly, that would be one way to reshape the offense after a nightmare 2025 season.
Kenneth Walker III Is The Perfect Fit For Kansas City

If Seattle lets the standout running back go, it could turn its focus to Las Vegas Raiders superstar Maxx Crosby. Breer also recently reported that the Seahawks could pursue a trade for Crosby. The veteran’s future in Sin City is murky.
Seattle has a capable RB1 option in Zach Charbonnet, should Walker leave. And he may have a hard time turning down a lucrative offer from another contender like the Chiefs.
Kansas City hasn’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since 2017. Their ground game was a problem in 2025, and the offense is too reliant on Patrick Mahomes. Add Walker to the mix, and the Chiefs suddenly have a much more balanced offensive unit.
Free agency officially opens on Wednesday, March 11.
