Days after the devastating news that former NFL wide receiver Rondale Moore died at age 25, AJ Brown is speaking out. The Philadelphia Eagles’ star wide receiver shared a raw, nine-minute emotional message directed at the NFL community.

The Minnesota Vikings wide receiver and former Purdue standout’s cause of death was revealed. Moore died by suicide on Saturday, February 21, New Albany police Chief Todd Bailey said. “Due to consideration for Moore’s family, we are not releasing specific case information,” Bailey added.

Moore was found dead in his New Albany, Indiana, home on Saturday. Prior to his death, Moore was in the process of working his way back onto the field after suffering a season-ending injury during a Vikings preseason game. He signed with the Vikings during the 2025 offseason. According to Ahmad Hicks of FOX 9, Moore was found inside a garage.

His death has left a wave of emotions that has had many other NFL players speaking out. That included AJ Brown.

Tributes poured in from all over as Kansas City Chiefs star Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown revealed that Moore had messaged him just hours before his death. Brown and Moore were teammates with the Arizona Cardinals from 2022 to 2023.

Tyrone Tracy Jr., a running back for the New York Giants, also said he had recently spoken with Moore. Buffalo Bills cornerback Darius Slay wrote, “Man U gots to appreciate everyday.. It’s a blessing to wake up.”

Eagles WR AJ Brown released a video on Monday speaking about mental health in the wake of Rondale Moore’s death on Saturday. He noted it’s been a tough few months in the football community. Brown spoke about his own mental-health struggles from his early 20s. He encouraged players going through dark times to lean on their faith, reach out to therapists, and practice positive affirmations.

“Guys, I want you to understand in the NFL community—things aren’t always going to go your way,” Brown said.

“You may not get everything that you desire. Sometimes this game is not friendly. People are going to say nasty things about you—call you this, call you that—but none of those things, in that moment, define you. You just have to understand that this is just a short period of time, a short moment in your life. That’s gonna [pass in the snap of a finger]. We have the rest of our lives to live. We are incredible human beings who can accomplish the world. You already made it to the NFL. Don’t get down on yourself. I understand how it feels, I understand what it feels like to try to take care of your family. I understand all of those things when you’re trying to achieve this, trying to achieve that.”

Moore was a former Purdue standout and second-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2021. He was only 25 when he was found dead in his hometown of New Albany, Indiana, with a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound.

It was clear that the news hit AJ Brown hard. His message may help more than he knows.
