Former Baltimore Ravens star kicker Justin Tucker is back in the NFL news after months away from the field.

He received a tryout with the New Orleans Saints, which surprised many fans and analysts. Tucker spent this season serving a 10-game suspension and stayed unsigned, but now that the suspension is over, he’s free to work for any team. The Saints called him after their special teams struggled again.

New Orleans fell to 2–9 after losing to the Falcons on Sunday. Blake Grupe missed two field goals in that game, and the team began looking for help right away.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported, “The Saints are hosting a kicker tryout and former Pro Bowler Justin Tucker is among those invited, per me and MikeGarafolo. This is his first workout since being suspended 10 games by the NFL for violating the personal conduct policy.”

Tucker spent 11 seasons with the Ravens and built one of the best careers ever for an NFL kicker. Baltimore released him in May after several massage therapists accused him of sexual misconduct. The NFL investigated and suspended him for 10 games. Now that he has served the suspension as a free agent, he’s hoping for a chance to return to the league.

Tucker’s Track Record Still Shines

Justin Tucker became one of the best kickers in NFL history because he was reliable and showed up in big moments. He made 89.1 percent of his field goal attempts with the Ravens, the fourth-best mark ever. He also earned seven Pro Bowl trips and five All-Pro awards. In 2021, he set an NFL record with a 66-yard field goal. That record lasted until earlier this season, when Cam Little hit a 68-yarder against the Raiders.

But Tucker struggled in his last season in Baltimore. He made only 73.3 percent of his kicks and went 6-for-11 from 50 yards or more. Those numbers raised doubts about whether he was slowing down. The Ravens released him before the league announced his suspension, and no team signed him after that. Even so, people still mentioned him because of his long career and accomplishments.

Now, the Saints are looking for help at kicker, and Tucker finally has a chance to prove he can still perform. The team will watch him kick on Monday and compare him with other options. They haven’t made a decision yet, but this is Tucker’s first real opportunity to return to the NFL this season.
