Angela Simmons Reveals What Cam Newton Did That Gave Her the “Ick” on Awkward First Date

Angela Simmons went on one date with Cam Newton the night before he was drafted in 2011. And she’s finally revealed why he never got a second one. 

Simmons was a guest on the former NFL star’s ‘Funky Friday’ last week, where they delved into their past. 

The reality TV star and singer recalled going to dinner with Newton, who she says turned her off by laughing at his own jokes and bizarrely patting himself on the back.

Cam didn’t seem to remember most of it, but Angela explained having met him through a mutual friend, Corey Gamble.

“We went to this diner. We sat down and talked. This was the first time I met you. A mutual friend connected us,” she said. “You, the whole time, were making jokes and laughing at your own jokes.

“So, you sat across from me,” Simmons continued. “And I didn’t know what to expect. And you’re making jokes that I thought were just not funny. And you were patting yourself on the back and laughing.”

Angela Simmons Saw A Different Side Of Cam Newton, When It Was Too Late…

Simmons said she was done with Newton and their date after seeing what he brought to the table, but later experienced a different side of him. 

“When we take the taxi back that’s when you decided to be nicer. I was about to be like, ‘Alright, bet. Bye.’ But we sat outside the hotel. We talked. That’s when I got to know you.”

Newton claimed he didn’t remember “being that corny.”

“That was the night before I got drafted. So you can kind of imagine, like… I didn’t know where I was going,” he said.

“It felt like an arrogant a**hole,” Simmons said. “You sat across from me and, I can’t remember the joke, but I remember thinking ‘This is not funny.’ And you were like, ‘Haha! Tap me on back.’ I said, ‘Oh, I’m ready to go.’”

Cam and Angela went their separate ways but remained friendly. 

The socialite would admit to having told others her Cam story over the years. But it never made it out there until the latest episode of his own podcast.
