Unhappy football fans had the same complaint about Pro Football Hall of Famer Troy Aikman during the San Francisco 49ers’ home game against the Carolina Panthers on ‘Monday Night Football.’

Now in his fourth season at ESPN with longtime broadcast partner Joe Buck, Troy Aikman is one of the most polarizing NFL media personalities. In the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 5 road game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, angry fans accused Aikman of having a hate-on for Patrick Mahomes’ squad.

A few weeks later, Aikman seemed to endorse the conspiracy theory that the Chiefs get extra help from the referees. The bottom line? Never a dull moment with the three-time Super Bowl champion.

During the 49ers-Panthers game, frustrated fans thought Aikman was making excuses for San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy, who threw three interceptions alone in the first half.

“It’s crazy he still won’t admit to ridiculing Caleb in that Washington game
But he’s watching Purdy toss out beach balls and it’s just “weird” to him lmao,” one fan wrote.

“If JJ McCarthy threw three picks in the first half Troy Aikman would personally walk down onto the field and stab him,” said PFT Commenter.

“Brock Purdy never sees him, nor should he have seen him” – an all-time bozo line from Troy Aikman,” wrote another.

“if you could only listen to troy aikman, you would think purdy having the best game of his life with 3 picks,” a user added.

“Aikman making all kinds of excuses for Purdy interceptions. Sometimes it’s okay to just say it was a bad throw,” a fan said.

“Listening to Aikman yack about Purdy after throwing 3 picks vs how he talked about Caleb in the #bears Commanders game is amazing,” another commented.

After the 2025 season, Aikman will have one year left on the reported five-year deal worth $90 million contract he signed with ESPN, per the New York Post.
