Former NFL star Antonio Brown was originally accused of attempted second-degree murder in 2025. It was after allegedly grabbing a security officer’s handgun and firing two shots during a fistfight.
The situation happened outside a celebrity boxing match in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood in May 2025. Consequently, one of the rounds grazed the neck of victim Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu.
Instead of facing charges, Brown fled the United States to Dubai shortly after the incident. He was subsequently arrested and extradited back to the U.S. later that same year.
Now he is facing his punishment.
Antonio Brown Avoids Jail With Plea Deal in Shooting Case

Former NFL wideout Antonio Brown pleaded guilty Friday to aggravated assault with a firearm in connection with a 2025 shooting. He must undergo a mandatory psychological evaluation and weekly counseling if mandated.
Brown is “extremely grateful that this is finally behind us” and that an attempted murder charge was removed, defense attorney Mark Eiglarsh told reporters.
“My client was facing 30 years in prison with a 20-year minimum mandatory, and he was given an offer he just couldn’t refuse,” Eiglarsh added. “Probation was too good to turn down, and we’re both very excited about the outcome.”
When asked about this outcome, Brown said outside court on Thursday: “I thank God.”
Antonio Brown is no stranger to trouble. He previously was accused of battery on a moving truck driver. Furthermore, he faced several domestic violence charges, failure to pay child support, and other incidents.
Brown last played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2021 season. He ended his own career when he took off his pads and ran off the field. Brown spent 12 years in the NFL, most of it with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers under quarterback Tom Brady.
