The Baltimore Ravens have made a move at quarterback ahead of Thursday night’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Lamar Jackson hurt his right thumb on the first offensive play of Sunday’s 36-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Coach Jesse Minter said Jackson will have surgery and go on injured reserve.

Backup Tyler Huntley left in the second quarter with a toe injury. ESPN reported that he will not play Thursday. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said Huntley could miss “extended time,” per NBC Sports.

Tom Pelissero is now reporting that the Ravens are signing Kedon Slovis to their 53-man roster off the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad.

Pelissero said the options for Thursday now include Joe Fagnano, Austin Reed and Slovis. Slovis played in two games last season with the Arizona Cardinals.

Pelissero also noted a connection.

“Ravens QB coach Israel Woolfork was with Kedon Slovis in Arizona. Now, they’re back together in Baltimore.”

Fagnano finished the Buffalo game after the two injuries, going 10 of 21 for 91 yards with one interception. He is also dealing with an ankle injury himself.

Baltimore signed Reed to the practice squad on Monday. He attended Ravens training camp this summer and is the only healthy quarterback on the roster.

Minter said the loss of Jackson affects every part of the team. “I think when you lose a guy like Lamar, it’s a little bit of every phase doing a little bit more,” he said.

The Ravens are 4-4 after three straight losses.

Jackson had only just returned from an ankle injury and is now set for an extended period on the sideline after just one play.
