A fascinating behind-the-scenes video reveals just how much food the New England Patriots players are fed while traveling.

As some of the world’s greatest athletes, NFL players must pack their bodies with significantly more food than the average person. Some offensive linemen, for example, have to eat anywhere from 5,000 to 7,000 calories a day.

But how do players manage to pack in all those calories during a hectic travel period in the regular season? The New England Patriots offered a fascinating behind-the-scenes look on a recent X/Twitter post.

New England Patriots head dietitian Ted Harper broke down what a typical eating period looks like for the players when they travel. He claims there are 11 different opportunities to eat, starting with a pre-flight meal.

That’s followed by tarmac food, an in-flight meal and an arrival dinner at the hotel. The next phase is breakfast, a midday snack, a pregame meal and then a halftime snack. At night, they get a postgame meal before consuming more food at the tarmac. The last night is the in-flight meal:

With the Pats clinching their first AFC East division crown since 2019, it’s clear that Harper’s diet plan is working.

The Patriots have been one of the top surprise teams of 2025. They’re 13-3 and can clinch the AFC’s top seed with a win over the Miami Dolphins and a Denver Broncos loss or tie to the Los Angeles Chargers.

With her Kansas City Chiefs eliminated from playoff contention, Caitlin Clark is rooting for the Patriots to win Super Bowl 60. New England has not won a playoff game since Super Bowl 53 seven years ago.

Mike Vrabel’s squad certainly has all the pieces to go on a deep playoff run. We will soon find out if they also have what it takes to bring a seventh Super Bowl championship to Foxborough.
