Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase Is Appealing His One-Game Suspension, And His Argument (Which Has No Chance) Will Blow Your Mind

Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase reportedly plans to put forward a specifically bizarre argument in his bid to have a one-game suspension overturned.
On Monday, the NFL announced that Ja’Marr Chase was suspended one game after allegedly spitting on Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey in Sunday’s game at Acrisure Stadium.
Jalen Ramsey was ejected in the fourth quarter for throwing a punch at Chase’s head. After the game, the All-Pro cornerback told reporters that he retaliated against Chase for spitting on him.
Chase denied spitting on Ramsey after the game, but the NFL didn’t buy the excuse and suspended him for Sunday’s home contest against the New England Patriots.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Ja’Marr Chase is going to appeal the suspension and argue that, “if he was gonna spit on Jalen Ramsey, he would have spit in the face rather than just on the floor or on his jersey.”
Rapoport added that the ruling on Chase’s appeal is expected to be announced by Tuesday.

In 10 games this season, Chase has 79 receptions (tops in the NFL) for 861 yards and five touchdowns despite not having Joe Burrow (sidelined with a turf toe injury) in the lineup since Week 2.
Bengals Are Wasting Another Excellent Season From Ja’Marr Chase

Last season, the Bengals missed the postseason despite Joe Burrow leading the league in passing yards and passing touchdowns, Ja’Marr Chase winning the triple crown of receiving and Trey Hendrickson capturing the sacks title.
Chase has done his part in keeping the Bengals competitive despite Burrow’s absence. Unfortunately, the team has been let down by a historically bad defense that’s on pace to allow the most points in a single season (33.4 allowed through 10 games).
When Chase and Tee Higgins signed lucrative extensions in the offseason, they did not expect to be on an AFC bottom-feeder again. Unfortunately, another lights-out season from Chase is going to be a complete waste.
