Odell Beckham Jr.’s salary with the Los Angeles Rams has come up again following Bitcoin’s sharp dip.

The cryptocurrency fell below $70,000 on Wednesday, after rising to a record high of $126,000 last October.

Beckham famously converted his entire 2021 base salary into BTC through a partnership with Cash App. He announced the move when it was trading around $64,000.

With the coin dipping close to that as of today, a parody account has put out a tweet trolling the wide receiver over the decision.

“Odell Beckham Jr. took his entire $750k salary in bitcoin when he signed with the #Rams in 2021. At the time, Bitcoin was worth $64k… today Bitcoin is worth $65k. He’s brilliant🔥,” their tweet read.

The post attracted over a million views on X.

Meanwhile, fans are defending the WR, pointing out that he could have sold when the crypto was at an all-time high.

However, one user implied that Beckham was unlikely to have held on this long. Given his complaints about a $100 million contract, that’s not so hard to believe.

“If he’s still holding that means he hasn’t spent any of it which is brilliant. If he sold when it pretty much doubled in value, he’s also brilliant,” one wrote.

“What if he sold at the top when it broke ATH over 100k?” another asked.

“None of this was pointed out when Bitcoin was at 126k though,” someone claimed.

“You think he’s been holding that since then?” someone else asked.

“You waited for this day to post something disparaging. Overlooking the fact that it hit 125k a couple months ago and most analysts have it getting to 200k this year, but narrative away,” one comment read.

Odell Beckham Jr. was not the first NFL player to convert his salary to crypto.

Russell Okung had half of his paid out in BTC back in 2020.

It’s unclear how much Beckham profited from the decision. But if he’s held onto it this long, he’s still not at a loss.
