The Dallas Cowboys reportedly played a significant role in convincing the Baltimore Ravens to scrap the Maxx Crosby blockbuster trade.

Last week, the Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders agreed to a mammoth trade that would have sent Crosby to the AFC North club in exchange for two first-round picks. But on Tuesday night, the Raiders announced that the Ravens nixed the Crosby trade after he failed a physical.

The initial announcement of Crosby going to Baltimore was a big blow to Dallas Cowboys fans. The team made a strong push for Crosby, with Jerry Jones reportedly offering first and second-round picks for him.

But in another stunning twist, it turns out that the Cowboys were a factor in the nixed trade.

According to NFL Network’s Jane Slater, the Ravens consulted Cowboys team doctor Daniel Cooper, a knee specialist, after Maxx Crosby’s physical.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter also reported (via Pro Football Talk) that other NFL teams consult Dr. Cooper for injuries. Cooper performed knee surgeries on New York Giants wideout Malik Nabers and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes after they suffered season-ending injuries.

Cowboys Become The Team To Watch In Maxx Crosby Sweepstakes

Coming into the offseason, the Cowboys were widely mentioned as one of the top landing spots for Crosby. The Ravens are out of the sweepstakes, so that makes Dallas the team to watch now.

Dallas has two first-round picks this year (12 and 20), so Jones has the assets to make the win-now move for the five-time Pro Bowler. He already acquired former Green Bay Packers star Rashan Gary in a trade, so adding Crosby would take this defense to another level.

It’s unlikely that Vegas will get two first-round picks for Crosby. If Jones is firm on his offer of first and second-round picks, perhaps Raiders GM John Spytek will change his mind and complete the deal.
