Brock Purdy Rats Himself Out For Making “Business Decision” And Letting His Teammate Get Lit Up By Jalen Carter On Game-Changing Play vs. Eagles [VIDEO]

Brock Purdy has fessed up to making a business decision against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. 

The San Francisco 49ers are through to the Divisional Round after beating Philly, advancing as perhaps the biggest surprise of these playoffs. Purdy got his revenge after losing to the Eagles the last time they met in the postseason.

It must have been extra satisfying, given that he sustained a serious elbow injury in that game. 

So he probably shouldn’t be blamed for staying out of Jalen Carter’s way if he could help it. 

The 49ers went ahead against the Eagles in Sunday’s game thanks to an incredible trick play. 

Wide receiver Jauan Jennings completed a 29-yard touchdown pass to running back Christian McCaffrey to put SF up 17-16 in the fourth quarter. Carter wrecked him after he released the ball, leading to a roughing the passer penalty.

Brock Purdy Admits He Probably Should Have Blocked For His Teammate

Purdy was in position to block for Jennings but made the spur-of-the-moment decision not to. 

He had no qualms admitting to it in front of reporters.

“I was on the edge, sort of blocking, sort of not on the play and then I look back, saw JJ get hit and I was like, ‘Dang dude. Should I have done something about that?’” he said.

“I looked back to JJ and was like ‘You’re alright?’ and then celebrated,” Purdy added. “It was a really cool play.”

The odds were against the 49ers, who had wide receiver Ricky Pearsall ruled out ahead of Sunday’s game. They also lost star tight end George Kittle early in the game, but managed to pull off the win, a 23-19 result. 

They are now set to face the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday in a matchup some fans believe was scripted to take place.

Purdy will probably make the same decision if put in the situation again.
