Broncos-Bills Shatters NFL Playoff History—You Won’t Believe the Record

CBS Sports has broadcast two of the best games of the 2025 NFL season. Both, coincidentally, have featured the Buffalo Bills. First, they went against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the wild-card round. Then, they faced off against the Denver Broncos in the divisional round.
Amid controversy and criticism surrounding their No. 1 broadcasting partnership, Jim Nantz and Tony Romo, the network continues to draw high ratings. The Bills-Broncos game needed overtime to define the winner. Bo Nix (who suffered a season-ending injury in the game) led the Broncos to a 33-30 win to advance to the AFC championship game.
The final moments of the game were filled with controversy after referees granted an interception for Broncos cornerback Ja’Quan McMillan, which looked like a completion to Brandin Cooks in real speed. Sean McDermott ripped the officials over the play before being fired by Buffalo.
CBS Sports Made History With Bills-Broncos Broadcast

The controversies surrounding Romo and Nantz, and the controversy that followed the referees, may have helped CBS Sports have its most-watched Saturday game in NFL playoff history. The game also became the most-watched Saturday telecast on any network since the 1994 Winter Olympics.
The Bills-Broncos showdown drew 39.5 million viewers, which was 17% more than last year’s early divisional round time slot. The broadcast peaked at 51.2 million viewers in overtime.

They will televise the AFC championship game on Sunday. Even without Nix on the field, the Broncos and Patriots should put up a show on CBS Sports.
