Four-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Matthew Judon didn’t have to wait long to find a new home.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Buffalo Bills are signing Matthew Judon following his release from the Miami Dolphins. The Bills visit the Cleveland Browns at 1:00 p.m. EST on Sunday.

Judon was one of the NFL’s best edge rushers from 2017 to 2022. He recorded at least six sacks each year and was named to the Pro Bowl in four consecutive years (2019 to 2022).

He had his best seasons in 2021 and 2022 with the New England Patriots, recording 12.5 and 15.5 sacks, respectively. Judon was traded to the Atlanta Falcons in 2024 following a contract dispute with the Pats.

Matthew Judon had an up-and-down season in Atlanta, recording 5.5 and five pass breakups in 17 games. He was even more disappointing in Miami, recording zero sacks and garnering a horrific Pro Football Focus grade of 43.3.

We’ll see if he can bring a boost to Buffalo’s defense as they try to keep their hopes alive for the AFC EAst division crown.

Judon is the third recent notable signing by the Buffalo Bills. In November, they signed two-time Super Bowl champion wide receiver Mecole Hardman and former 1,000-yard wideout Brandin Cooks.

Buffalo has nothing to lose in taking a chance on Judon. He has big-game experience from his previous days with the Patriots and Baltimore Ravens. And Sean McDermott’s group needs some veteran leaders to break through the AFC hump.

Joey Bosa is the Bills’ sack leader with only five. They needed extra pass rushing depth. Judon hasn’t been a Pro Bowler since 2022, but it doesn’t hurt to see if he can regain his form under McDermott.
