Cam Skattebo Drops Shocking Comments About CTE And Asthma Being “Fake” [VIDEO]

The New York Giants had a calm and positive offseason at first. But things changed quickly after running back Cam Skattebo made some strong comments on a recent podcast.
Skattebo, who is going into his second NFL season, spoke on the “Bring The Juice” podcast with host Frank Dalena. The 24-year-old spoke openly when asked about Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, known as CTE, a disease linked to repeated head injuries in football.
“You think CTE’s a real thing?” Dalena asked.
“No,” Skattebo said while shaking his head. “It’s an excuse.”
The scene caught attention right away. The discussion did not stop there. Dalena moved to another topic and brought up asthma. He called it “an excuse too” and asked Skattebo if that counted as a hot take. Skattebo agreed without hesitation.
“No, that’s a good take,” he said. “Yes, asthma’s fake too.”
Comments Clash With Medical Evidence

The conversation grew more pointed as both doubled down. Dalena mocked children with asthma and asked if anything looked worse than kids “huffing and puffing.” Skattebo followed with a simple line.
“Just literally breathe air,” he said. Dalena added, “Be better.”

Medical research does not support these claims. Studies clearly show that both conditions are real and serious.
The Boston University CTE Center reported in 2023 that 345 out of 376 former football players they studied had CTE. That is about 91.7 percent. Doctors say the disease is linked to repeated head injuries over time.
Some former NFL players have also been affected. Aaron Hernandez and Junior Seau both died by suicide. Doctors later found CTE in their brains.
Asthma is also very common. The National Center for Health Statistics reported in 2024 that 8.6 percent of adults and 6.5 percent of children have asthma. The condition can make breathing difficult and can become serious without proper treatment. The same report said 3,722 people died from asthma during that time.
Skattebo made these comments while recovering from a season-ending ankle injury. He showed promise in his rookie season. He ran for 410 yards and scored five touchdowns after the New York Giants picked him in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He became the starting running back before getting injured in Week 8.
Now, his comments have put him in the middle of all the attention.
