Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold and Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell had a brief conversation after Sunday’s game at Lumen Field, as shown on Fox Sports’ cameras.

Nothing went right for O’Connell’s Seahawks on Sunday. Backup quarterback Max Brosmer basically flushed away any hopes of an upset with his inexcusable pick-six in the red zone, and the Minnesota defense couldn’t make the necessary stops against their old friend, as Sam Darnold led his ‘Hawks to a 26-0 blowout win.

After the game, the “NFL on Fox” broadcast showed O’Connell and Darnold sharing a hug and a few words. We don’t know what the 2024 Coach of the Year said, but it certainly appeared to be a kindhearted message:

Darnold, of course, had a career year under O’Connell’s tutelage last season. He turned that into a three-year, $100.5 million deal from the Seahawks in free agency and has been a star with 19 touchdowns and a 103.1 passer rating, per NFL.com.

As for the Vikings? After one year, it’s clear that they would have been better off keeping Darnold instead of passing the reins to J.J. McCarthy. Not that Darnold is complaining.
