The Kansas City Chiefs are serious about getting back into title contention in 2027. Despite the new season quickly approaching, they are still actively trying to tweak their roster.
With Patrick Mahomes nearing his return on the field, he needs all the help from his teammates.
The Chiefs are aware that there are still avenues for improvement, and they found one by striking a deal with the New York Giants.
Chiefs Trade For Giants Tackle/Guard Joshua Ezeudu

In a move few saw coming, the Kansas City Chiefs acquired Joshua Ezeudu from the New York Giants in exchange for a 7th-round pick in the 2028 NFL Draft.
ESPN’s Ian Rapoport broke the news on his official X account.
“The #Giants are trading G Joshua Ezeudu to the #Chiefs for a 2028 7th rounder, per me and @MikeGarafolo. Some depth to KC.”

Ezeudu was a third-round pick in 2023, mostly playing the backup role for the Giants.
Listed at 6-foot-4 and 310 pounds, Ezeudu is expected to beef up the Chiefs’ offensive line in the upcoming season. He missed last season after being placed on the injured reserve.
Chiefs Made Trade With Giants After Thornton Injury

Trading for Ezeudu means that the Chiefs’ entire offensive coaching staff is looking for ways to improve before the new season starts. Just last week, one of their wide receivers, Tyquan Thornton, was carted off the field after sustaining an injury.
It was reported that Thornton was trying to secure a pass down the sideline before the injury happened.
Last season, the youngster appeared in 14 games for the Chiefs. He averaged 23.1 yards per catch – a good feat for the 2022 second-rounder. With Travis Kelce’s slow decline, Thornton was expected to have a much bigger role for the team next season.
The new injury was a huge blow for the 26-year-old. In December 2025, he was placed on season-ending injured reserve by the Chiefs due to a concussion.
