Colin Kaepernick Fires Nasty Shot At The NFL’s Current Quarterback Class

Colin Kaepernick still wants another chance in the NFL, even after being away from the league for nearly a decade. The former 49ers quarterback says he’s still putting in the work and truly believes he can keep up with today’s starters.
Kaepernick, who is 38 now, played six seasons in San Francisco from 2011 to 2016. Over his career, he racked up over 12,000 passing yards, 2,300 rushing yards, and scored 85 total touchdowns. He even ran for 181 yards against the Packers in the 2012 playoffs, which set an all-time record for a quarterback back then.
Actually, he hasn’t played an NFL game since 2016. Kaepernick has always said the league blacklisted him for taking a knee during the anthem to protest racial injustice, but he’s stayed in shape this whole time, just hoping a team will give him a call.
Kaepernick Believes He Can Still Compete
During a recent interview, Kaepernick explained how seriously he still takes his training.
“I still train five days a week. I’m up at 4:30 in the morning doing my training before I go about the rest of my day,” Kaepernick said. “I have to do everything that is in my control to make sure that I’m prepared.”

He also made it clear that he still watches the quarterback landscape closely. Kaepernick said he believes he could outperform some of the quarterbacks currently starting in the NFL.
“It’s tough to say [exactly how many] because I haven’t been watching the games, but I will check the stat lines to see where quarterbacks are at. Based upon that, I think there’s a good amount.”
Kaepernick last worked out for an NFL team in 2022. The Las Vegas Raiders showed interest in him that year, but he did not return to the league.
Kaepernick also used the interview to criticize NFL ownership. He accused the league’s 32 owners of working together to protect their shared interests.
“The part that I hope people appreciate and take away in this moment is what [the New England Patriots owner] Robert Kraft and what they’re saying by denying Macklemore the opportunity to go out and perform with Ed Sheeran is they are willing to collude,” Kaepernick told the MeidasTouch Podcast.
For now, Kaepernick continues to prepare for an opportunity that has not arrived. He remains convinced that he can still play at the NFL level.
