Colts QB Anthony Richardson Charged With Crime After Getting Pulled Over By Police

Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. is facing a misdemeanor charge following a traffic stop in Carmel, Indiana, on October 12.
Coach Shane Steichen named Richardson the backup quarterback behind Daniel Jones in September, with Riley Leonard third on the depth chart.
Court documents now add a legal issue to a storyline that has already produced a trade request. According to FOX59, Richardson was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession. The charge was filed Monday, October 19.
The documents note that an officer pulled Richardson over because his registration had expired.
Richardson reportedly told police he had smoked marijuana in the vehicle. He also said he had a small amount inside. Police found a jar containing marijuana and an opened bag of THC-infused gummies. WIBC reports that both items later tested positive for THC.
The officer cited Richardson for the registration violation. Richardson has not been convicted of any offense.
Colts Also Dealt With Keenan Allen’s Arrest Before Richardson’s Charge Surfaced

The Colts had not responded to FOX59’s request for comment when it published. They have already dealt with a similar legal issue this season after Keenan Allen’s drunk driving arrest on Aug. 30. Allen faced preliminary charges of driving while intoxicated and endangering a person.
General manager Chris Ballard defended Allen afterward.
“I’m not going to comment on what happened, but what I’m going to tell you is good people make mistakes,” Ballard said, per ESPN. “And he’s a tremendous human being. Give him some grace.”
Richardson’s case will move through Carmel City Court. WIBC reports that he waived his initial hearing, which had been set for Dec. 9. A bench trial is scheduled for Jan. 4, 2027.
