The Indianapolis Colts left everyone confused, including their opponents, with a surprise trick sequence on Sunday.

The Colts are out of the playoffs despite their hot start. They were forced to bring Philip Rivers back after starting quarterback Daniel Jones went down with a season-ending injury.

And it appears they’ve left their best tricks for last, throwing them in there when it didn’t quite matter anymore.

The Colts earned a first down on a fake punt on a 4th-and-5 in the first quarter of Sunday’s game. They kept their punting team on the field after the successful play, which led to a penalty on the defense and some extra yardage.

Check them out in the video below:

“And got the defensive penalty for 5! LMAO. Team with shit to lose is the most dangerous thing,” one fan laughed.

“Petition to start doing more whimsical plays like this,” another suggested.

One user claimed, “That’s not football, that’s psychological warfare.”

Someone else asked, “Why would you do that? No one is dumb enough to believe they’re punting on 1st and 10.”

Well, it worked because the punt team being out there left the Texans unsure of what to do.

Houston went into halftime with a 23-17 lead. They can clinch the ACF South with a win today, but also need the Tennessee Titans to lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
