New York Giants rookie Abdul Carter is getting benched a bit too often this season. 

The defensive was kept seated for the opening drive against the Green Bay Packers earlier this season, with reports claiming he slept during a walk-through. He was benched again on Monday night, with the Giants playing the New England Patriots. 

No official reason was given, but an X user going by the name Wesley Steinberg started a rumor claiming the DE would be disciplined after getting caught watching adult videos during a team meeting.

“Giants DE Abdul Carter will miss the first drive tonight for disciplinary reasons after getting caught watching p**n in a team meeting when his headphones disconnected,” they wrote.

The tweet really took off once folks realized the player did not take the field for the Giants on their opening defensive drive.

“And here I thought this was a parody account,” Dr. Jeff Mueller mused.

“It is lol. But makes you wonder what Carter did lol,” someone commented.

“Wait a minute,” another post read, following realization.

“Find out that Abdul Carter is going to be sat out for the first drive tonight, Make up a fake reason that’s really funny, Go viral for it, Absolute genius,” read another.

The parody tweet was posted several hours before the game, which suggests there may have been some insider dealings involved. It has been viewed over eight million times.
