Shocking video footage has surfaced of police arresting Atlanta Falcons rookie linebacker James Pearce Jr. in Miami-Dade County, Florida, on Saturday.

Last night, news emerged that James Pearce Jr. was arrested after a domestic dispute involving his girlfriend, Los Angeles Sparks forward Rickea Jackson. Pearce fled the authorities and led them on a high-speed chase before crashing his vehicle.

Pearce was then arrested by police and taken into custody. Per ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, Pearce was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, fleeing police, aggravated battery of an officer and resisting an officer without violence to his person.

A video of police arresting Pearce and putting him in the vehicle has emerged, courtesy of the @quepasaendoral Instagram account:

The Atlanta Falcons have issued a statement on the incident. The club said they’re gathering more details and won’t have further comment at this time.

Many criticized the Falcons when they traded up via the Los Angeles Rams to take Pearce Jr. 26th overall last year. As part of the package, Atlanta had to give up its 2026 first-round draft pick.

Pearce shrugged off a slow start and finished with 10.5 sacks, the most among all rookies by a country mile. Second on that list was teammate and fellow first-round pick Jalon Walker, who had 5.5.

The rookie standout also became the first Falcon to have double-digit sacks in a season since Vic Beasley in 2016. Atlanta finished 8-9, only missing out on the NFC South division crown via a three-way tiebreaker.
