Daejon Love has already become the subject of a bizarre federal fraud case. Now, another allegation involving the fake NFL persona has surfaced online.
Federal authorities arrested Love and Taylor Jamie Chan on August 24. Prosecutors have accused the pair of running a romance and investment scheme involving at least 26 women.
Love allegedly presented himself as a San Francisco 49ers player or a wealthy real estate investor. Investigators say he used dating apps, social media and fabricated financial information to gain victims’ trust.
A new report has now highlighted alleged messages involving a 17-year-old girl. According to Gridiron Heroics, screenshots circulating online show Love allegedly claiming he was 21.
The same report says Love was actually 33 when the messages allegedly occurred. The girl reportedly told him she was 17 and would not turn 18 until February. Love allegedly responded by asking when she would turn 18.
He allegedly continued the conversation while maintaining his fabricated football identity. The messages reportedly included claims that he played for the 49ers and was trying to clear waivers.
Allegation Adds More To An Expanding Case
The newly surfaced material remains an online allegation. The federal charges against Love concern wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud, not the alleged interaction with the teenager. The available federal charging announcement does not mention the teenager allegation.
The federal case itself has already produced substantial allegations. Prosecutors say Love and Chan received approximately $1.3 million from victims. Investigators have identified 26 women but believe additional victims may exist.
Love allegedly used multiple names during the scheme. Authorities listed Jon Love, Daejon Love, Avril Lyto Love and Jordan Love among them.
Love Was Constantly On The Move
Investigators also say Love traveled through several states before his arrest. Authorities ultimately apprehended him and Chan at Boise Airport after learning Love was in Idaho to meet potential victims.
The U.S. Department of Justice has stressed that the criminal complaint contains allegations. Love remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
For now, the alleged messages represent another unverified piece of a rapidly developing story. Their emergence has added another uncomfortable detail to the increasingly elaborate fake 49ers persona prosecutors say Love created.
