Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium To Undergo Surprising Name Change

The AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the home of the Dallas Cowboys, is set to undergo a name change, albeit temporarily. 

The venue will feature soccer matches from the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is coming to the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The tournament will be hosted by an unprecedented number of nations in 2030, but no one’s looking ahead to that yet, with the turn of the year now quickly approaching and national teams gearing up. 

Said stadium was named as the host of several group stage matches last year, with two Round of 32 games and a Round of 16 match set to be held there as well.

It will also be interesting to see whether the sun will be an issue following the Chiefs fans’ recent plight.

FOX 4 has since reported that the grounds will have a different name during the tournament because FIFA doesn’t allow the names of corporate entities that are not sponsors. 

As such, the AT&T Stadium will be referred to as the “Dallas Stadium” during the World Cup. All AT&T logos around the stadium will also be covered. 

“FIFA doesn’t allow non-sponsor corporate names at World Cup venues, which means AT&T Stadium will temporarily be known as “Dallas Stadium.” Official sources tell FOX 4 the AT&T logos on and around the stadium will be covered for the tournament,” the outlet revealed this week.

While the name will only be used for the World Cup, fans aren’t all that pleased, mainly because the stadium isn’t actually in Dallas. 

“Why not Arlington stadium since it’s not in Dallas,” one asked.

“should be Texas Stadium, or Arlington Stadium at the least. that isnt in Dallas,” another pointed out.

“Bet Jerry had a good laugh when he found that out,” someone suggested.

“Arlington taxpayer had to pay for half that stadium and they don’t even get their name on it 😆,” someone else laughed.

The World Cup kicks off on June 11 and will host its final on July 19.

Arlington residents probably won’t care for it as much, given this new development.
