Stefon Diggs might be in some serious trouble with the law. Patriots fans are all praying that the allegations against him are untrue. Diggs allegedly hit and then choked a female employee. It came during a dispute over money earlier this month.
The woman first made the allegations to police on December 16. Although she was initially reluctant to pursue charges, she changed her mind by December 23. Diggs is now facing one felony count of strangulation. He also has one count of misdemeanor assault over the claims.
Despite the charges, not everybody is against him.
Dave Portnoy refuses to judge the team’s star wideout without due process. The Barstool CEO, a lifelong Patriots fan, is sharing his take on the matter. He posted a nearly three-minute video defending the four-time Pro Bowler.
“First of all, in this great country of ours, America, it’s innocent until proven guilty,” Portnoy said of Stefon Diggs.

“What team won the first Super Bowl after 9/11, that brought this country together and stood up for everything great about this country? The Patriots,” Portnoy declared. “So I believe in the rules of this country, innocent until proven guilty. I also know no team has taken the higher road, had better moral integrity than the New England Patriots.”
Portnoy continued as he brought up former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.
“The second he got accused of murdering a bunch of people, before you could even say double homicide, he was cut, he was gone,” said Portnoy. “We don’t care, wins [or] losses, we look for good people, good humans.
“But again,” he reiterated, “this is innocent until proven guilty.”
Stefon Diggs Could Miss The Playoffs

Patriots wideout Stefon Diggs is no stranger to having issues off the field. Months after signing with the team, he was on a boat with Cardi B and women. Diggs was seen on a boat passing around what appeared to be a mysterious pink substance to women.
He was dealt a paternity suit from a woman named Aileen Lopera. Online influencer Christopher Blake Griffith filed a complaint accusing Diggs of sexual battery.
The criminal charges against Stefon Diggs could force him to miss playoff games. That doesn’t bode well for the Patriots. The Personal Conduct Policy gives the league the ability to place a player on the Commissioner Exempt List. NFL insider Ian Rapoport spoke about that this week.
Diggs was sidelined for most of the 2024 season with the Texans due to an ACL tear. Many teams steered clear due to that injury, thinking he was done. So far in 2025, he has caught 82 passes for 970 yards and four touchdowns.
