Deebo Samuel Could Sign With One Of These 3 Teams In Massive NFL Shakeup

Veteran wide receiver Deebo Samuel had a down year in 2025, failing to make a bigger impact on the Washington Commanders’ offense. The San Francisco 49ers traded him to the Washington team after six years of partnership.
Samuel couldn’t find a foothold on Dan Quinn’s team, and the NFC East team released him after just one season.
He played 16 games, catching 72 passes for 727 yards and five touchdowns. He remains a free agent, and several teams could use his services. However, Samuel has been linked with three intriguing options in recent times.
Deebo Samuel Linked With 3 NFL Teams

On May 7, Aaron Schatz of ESPN wrote that the Chicago Bears could use Deebo Samuel‘s services.
“The Bears use a lot of two tight-end sets,” Schatz wrote. “However, they still were in 11 personnel 52% of the time last season, so they need to have a third starting receiver to go with Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III. Right now, that’s veteran Kalif Raymond, but Raymond is 31 and has had less than 300 yards in each of the past two seasons. The other alternative is third-round rookie Zavion Thomas. Deebo Samuel would be a really interesting free agent signing here.”
On May 4, Preston Palm of Sports Illustrated wrote that the Carolina Panthers could go for either David Njoku or Deebo Samuel in free agency.
“If the Panthers want to get greedy and make a huge splash, then Deebo Samuel would be a target to keep a close eye on, who has still shown flashes of his dynamic ability as a receiver, especially after the catch.”
In a more shocking take, former 49ers star Richard Sherman said Samuel could return to the Niners just one season after they went their separate ways.
“San Francisco. It all leads back home for these guys, because that’s where he’s had his greatest success,” Sherman said. “He had an All-Pro season in San Francisco because Kyle uses him in very unique ways that really showcase his abilities and really cool fashions.”

After a down year, Samuel remains a dangerous option for teams. Time will tell if any of these three pull the trigger and land a solid veteran.
