Denver Broncos Superstar Arrested On Disturbing Charges

The Denver Broncos have some controversy on their hands following the arrest of pass rusher Jonathon Cooper. 

Cooper, one of the best players in his position in the AFC, has fallen afoul of the law.

TMZ Sports reports that Colorado police apprehended him for domestic violence on Friday. 

According to jail records, authorities booked him into a Douglas County facility at 2:30 AM, in the wake of an incident that allegedly took place late Thursday night. 

Cooper is facing separate charges of domestic violence summons and complaint, domestic violence and criminal mischief $300-1,000. 

“Jonathon Cooper is behind bars in a Colorado jail … after the standout Broncos linebacker was arrested Thursday night around 11 PM, TMZ Sports has learned,” the outlet reported. 

“It’s unclear what led up to the arrest, but the 6th-year pro is being held on two counts of domestic violence, as well as criminal mischief.”

“The 28-year-old was booked into a detention facility at 2:38 AM,” they added. “JC is scheduled to go before a judge this morning … and he’s got another hearing set for Monday.”

According to the California Post, which cites a jail official, bail was set at $1,000.

No other details are available at this time. 

Jonathan Cooper Enjoyed Breakout Year In 2023

Cooper was a seventh-round pick for the Broncos in 2021. He had a breakout year in 2023, recording 8.5 sacks after limited playing time across his first two seasons. 

The team signed him to a four-year contract extension in November 2024 worth a reported $60 million. 

The 28-year-old has registered totals of 31.5 sacks and 266 combined tackles in his five seasons with the Broncos. 

He appeared in all three of the team’s playoff tilts last season and made a sack in the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots.
