Keenan Allen’s introduction to Indianapolis didn’t go the way anyone expected. A booking photo released this weekend gave fans plenty to say about it.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department released Allen’s mugshot following his arrest early Sunday morning.

Most people in the comments blamed the same thing.

“Wow, Indianapolis is already getting to him,” one wrote.

“Dude ended up in Indy,” someone else commented. “How sober would you want to be?”

“That drunk uncle that said he’d be fine driving home after a few brews,” one user joked.

Other fans zeroed in specifically on Allen’s quarterback situation.

“Went from Justin Herbert to Daniel Jones and started drinking,” one person wrote.

Another added, “Look what playing with Daniel Jones does to you.”

One fan took a more pointed tone. “You have the privilege now to smoke za in the league and you still decide to drink, lol.”

The Arrest Came Hours After His Colts Debut

Officers arrested Allen around 1 a.m. Sunday in downtown Indianapolis, according to a police report obtained by multiple outlets.

He faces two misdemeanor charges, including driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher and DWI endangering a person. Officers stopped to investigate a vehicle parked illegally in the 100 block of South Meridian Street and noticed signs of intoxication once they made contact with Allen.

Allen’s arrest came just hours after his first appearance with the Colts, a preseason game against Detroit where he caught one pass for 24 yards. He signed with Indianapolis on a one-year deal earlier this month, joining a receiver room already anchored by Alec Pierce and Josh Downs, and reuniting with a franchise he faced regularly during his 11 seasons with the Chargers.

The Colts released a brief statement acknowledging the arrest.

“We are aware of the incident involving Keenan Allen last night,” the team said. “We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.”

Indianapolis faces a roster cutdown deadline Sunday at 6 p.m. ET, a stretch of the calendar that’s already produced surprising roster moves for the franchise this week.

The NFL’s substance abuse policy allows for penalties as severe as a mandatory three-game suspension for alcohol-related convictions, though the league typically waits for legal proceedings to conclude before issuing discipline.

Teams
