A Derek Carr retirement U-turn is definitely a possibility this season.

Carr has said that he would consider making a comeback if the right situation presents itself. And that just might be the case, with the Minnesota Vikings keen on veteran help.

According to the California Post’s Vincent Bonsignore, there has been some chatter at the ongoing Combine linking Carr to the NFC North team.

The revelation comes on the back of rumors suggesting he could make a return to the Las Vegas Raiders.

“I’d imagine if DC comes back it’ll be with a contender,Bonsignore shared via X. “There was a lot of talk in Indy about the Vikings.”

Carr has been clear about his comeback terms. He would need to be fully healthy and on a contending roster.

The Vikings aren’t considered to be a contender right now, but perhaps they could be with a healthy, experienced Pro Bowl quarterback.

Minnesota went 9-8 in 2025, missing the playoffs. However, they have a very respectable defense and, on the other side of the ball, boast arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL.

Carr last played in 2024, throwing for 2,145 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Should the Vikings make a move for Carr, it would have to be via trade. The New Orleans Saints still own his rights, and something would have to be worked out with them.
