There haven’t been many public updates on Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell’s injury status so far. But sometimes, the lack of an update can be a good thing.
Campbell sustained his scary-looking neck injury while making a tackle against Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson on Sunday. He remained motionless on the ground after the hit, where he was attended to by training staff and medical personnel.
The linebacker was eventually carted off the field and taken to a local Detroit hospital.
Now, we are getting a major update on his status.
Jack Campbell Improving After Scary Neck Injury in Lions Game

Lions linebacker Jack Campbell remains at a local hospital on Tuesday to rest and recover after suffering a neck injury. The team has not said whether Campbell has movement in his extremities. However, they said Monday, “Preliminary indications are positive, and out of respect for Jack and his family, we will not share further information at this time.”
On Tuesday, Lions head coach Dan Campbell gave the best update about him. “The good news is he is improving,” Dan Campbell said regarding Jack Campbell on 97.1 The Fan.
Campbell was also asked about the impact of the Jack Campbell injury on the rest of the team.
“Well, I think the thought of him — knowing he’s doing better — you know, and I’ve kept the captains up to date, and they’ve let the other guys know is good news,” Dan Campbell said.
Jack Campbell had three tackles in the game on Sunday before his injury. For the year, the Detroit Lions linebacker has recorded 29 solo tackles and 28 assisted tackles through seven games of the 2026 NFL season. He is a big reason why the team is playing so much better. Losing him for an extended period of time would be detrimental.
