Puka Nacua is still waiting to learn whether he’ll play in Week 1. But a new development this weekend could see his troubles mount.

The Rams star remains under NFL review as the league considers discipline stemming from several off-field incidents this past year. On Sunday night, his former girlfriend, Hallie Aiono, posted a TikTok video that’s since drawn fresh attention to that review.

Aiono didn’t name Nacua directly, but the timing and context left little doubt as to who she meant.

Hallie Aiono is the mother of Nacua’s son, Kingston, and the two went through a public paternity dispute last year after their relationship ended.

She described the emotional toll of that relationship without detailing specific incidents in her latest video.

“I went from loving somebody so deeply for four years, I felt it in my bones, to experiencing extreme betrayal, abuse, complete neglect from them, in what felt like it happened almost overnight,” she said. She went on to explain what prompted her to seek professional support. “A lot of the things that were public affected my mental health,” she said. “But honestly, the things that were happening in private are what completely crushed me and altered my brain chemistry. Those parts, what people never saw, or know of, are what broke me.”

Aiono’s video centered mainly on her decision to begin therapy rather than any new specific allegation. It’s not the first time she’s publicly referenced difficulties in the relationship, having shared similarly emotional posts in the months following their split.

A Separate, Ongoing Lawsuit Remains Unrelated To Aiono’s Comments

Nacua’s off-field scrutiny traces back further than his relationship with Aiono.

A separate lawsuit filed by Madison Atiabi in March accuses him of biting her shoulder and making an antisemitic remark during a New Year’s Eve gathering, allegations that cite gender violence, assault and battery, and negligence.

Nacua’s attorney, Levi McCathern, has firmly denied those claims, describing the incident as “horseplay” and stating specifically that the matter “is not sexual in nature, nor does it involve any allegation of domestic violence.” Nacua checked into a rehab facility in April, a decision his legal team said was influenced by the ongoing scrutiny surrounding him.

The NFL has not announced a suspension for Nacua as of this week, though ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Nacua remains among several players under review ahead of the season.

The Rams have already made roster moves that could soften the blow if a suspension comes down, including a trade for receiver Tutu Atwell. Los Angeles opens its season Sept. 10 against the 49ers in Melbourne, Australia, with Nacua’s availability for that game still undetermined.
