The forecast is not looking great for Sunday’s Divisional Round game between the Houston Texans and New England Patriots.

After enduring freezing temperatures in Pittsburgh last week, Houston is looking to see even worse conditions this week. A strong cold front will reach Massachusetts just in time for the divisional round of the playoffs on Sunday. This will give New England an additional home-field advantage.

Sunday’s game features a 3 p.m. kickoff at Gillette Stadium. Updated models from Wednesday show the potential for messy weather later in the game.

Senior Meteorologist Noah Bergren is reporting that the contest could turn into a snow game. He added that an East Coast winter storm is “rising significantly for sure.” “00z GFS and Canadian models with heavy snow on the I-95 corridor from DC to the Boston area,” he added.

Many games have already been affected by the weather, such as the Bears and Packers from last week. The Bears and the Rams are also looking at brutal conditions.

The Houston Texans are a warm-weather team. However, they have beaten the Steelers and Chiefs in nasty conditions. Sunday’s forecast shows a low of 24 degrees and a high of 35 degrees. The Patriots are used to this type of weather.

The Houston Texans are 0-6 all-time in the Divisional round of the playoffs. That is not good. Last week, they were winless and had also lost all six of their previous road games. As we all saw, they defeated the Steelers. Now they are trying to get another monkey off their backs.

Houston might have to do without the services of Nico Collins. He is in concussion protocol after being carted off the field last week.

The New England Patriots’ last appearance in the AFC Championship was in the 2018 season. Tom Brady was leading that team. It would mark the end of their dominant run of eight consecutive AFC title games from 2011-2018. Now the new team is trying to get back to the old days.
