DJ Moore Branded A “Maniac” After Cameras Caught His Wild Message To Panthers Defender While Carrying The Ball During Game [VIDEO]

DJ Moore’s Bills debut is drawing attention for more than just his stat line. A clip of him waving in a defender has fans questioning his sanity.
Moore made an immediate impact in Saturday’s preseason opener against the Panthers, hauling in three catches for 61 yards during his first two series with Buffalo’s starting offense.
On one of those plays, cameras caught Moore appearing to invite contact from a defender rather than avoid it, sliding or stepping out of bounds.
Warren Sharp shared the clip on X, captioning it, “Waving a defender to you cause you want to deliver a hit in the preseason is completely maniacal.”
DJ Moore Built Instant Chemistry With Josh Allen

There was plenty to enjoy from Moore’s outing on Saturday. The new WR acquisition and quarterback Josh Allen connected three times on four targets across the game’s opening two drives, with Moore picking up 32 yards on his very first catch as a Bill.
He was wide open on the play, sitting 14 yards from the nearest defender when he hauled in the pass, giving him room to turn upfield before any contact occurred.
Moore’s aggressive, physical style has followed him for years, dating back to his time in Carolina and Chicago. That same fearless approach showed up again later in the game on an 18-yard catch, when Moore came off the field, grabbing his ankle after taking a hit.
He gave Buffalo a scare with a possible ankle injury on the very play that ended his preseason debut early, though head coach Joe Brady later said he was “good to go.”
Moore’s willingness to seek out contact isn’t new to Bills fans who have followed his arrival in Buffalo. He’s already made a strong impression off the field, too, personally buying out his own jersey shirts at a local retail store just to hand them out for free to fans shortly after the March trade that brought him to Buffalo. That same energy has carried over to how he plays.
Buffalo Got Exactly What It Traded For

Buffalo’s own recap of the game noted that the Allen-Moore connection had been building throughout training camp, calling it an explosive new element for the offense.
It took Buffalo just three plays to show why the front office made the move for Moore this offseason, following a 21-yard reception from Khalil Shakir to open the game.
Whether fans see Moore’s habit as reckless or simply the product of a competitor who refuses to shy away from contact, it’s clear his physical style is already becoming part of his identity in Buffalo.
The Bills won the preseason opener 29-14 and now turn their attention to a road matchup with the Browns next weekend.
