President Donald Trump will not attend Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, and the decision has caused a strong reaction online. Many NFL fans questioned his explanation.

Trump said he skipped the game because the travel to California was too long. Critics were not convinced by that reason. Last year, he attended Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans and even took part in the Army-Navy coin toss.

This time, Trump also criticized the NFL’s entertainment lineup. The league chose Bad Bunny and Green Day to perform. Both artists have publicly spoken against Trump in the past. Trump told the New York Post regarding the choices made by the league.

“I’m anti them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible,” Trump said.

Trump insisted the music had nothing to do with his absence. He stressed travel concerns instead.

“It’s just too far away. I would. I’ve gotten great hands at the Super Bowl. They like me,” Trump said. “I would go if, you know, it was a little bit shorter.”

Those remarks did little to calm the reaction.

Some fans mocked Trump’s explanation. “Imagine skipping the Super Bowl because the playlist hurt your feelings,” one comment read.
