Donald Trump Is Blasting “Sissy” NFL For Something Entirely New That’s NOT The Halftime Show Or Kickoff Rule

Donald Trump spoke out after the Pro Football Hall of Fame voters did not select Bill Belichick in the first round. He strongly opposed the decision and created a debate across the sports world.
Belichick did not receive the required 80 percent of votes during the January 13 selection process. The outcome surprised many fans and league insiders. No head coach has won more Super Bowls. Belichick won six titles as head coach of the Patriots and two more as a defensive coordinator with the Giants.
Trump weighed in early Wednesday morning with a post on Truth Social. He linked Belichick’s Hall of Fame snub to NFL rule changes he dislikes. The message spread fast across social media.
Trump wrote, “It is the same mindset that gave pro football the new and unwatchable ‘Sissy’ Kickoff Rule, that made it possible for Bill Belichick to not be elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Both are ridiculous and should be overturned!”
In his post, Trump called the decision ridiculous and compared it to the NFL’s new kickoff rule. He has often criticized the rule, which the league introduced to reduce high-speed collisions. Now, he has added Belichick’s Hall of Fame omission to that list.
Outrage Spreads Across The Football World

The hate did not stop with Trump. Stars from different sports voiced support for Belichick. Patrick Mahomes and LeBron James both criticized the vote. Many fans said the same point online. They asked how voters could overlook six Super Bowl wins.
The Hall of Fame committee will release the full vote tally on February 5. The group will keep individual ballots sealed. The Class of 2026 will debut that same day in San Francisco ahead of Super Bowl LX.
Belichick now coaches at North Carolina. ESPN reported that he felt puzzled and disappointed after the vote. A source close to him told ESPN, “Six Super Bowls isn’t enough? What does a guy have to do?”
Some voters pointed to controversy. Belichick faced league penalties during his career. The 2007 Spygate case led to a $500,000 fine and a lost draft pick. Deflategate followed in 2015 and ended with a four-game suspension for Tom Brady and major fines for the team.
A veteran Hall voter told ESPN, “The only explanation [for the outcome] was the cheating stuff. It really bothered some of the guys.”
The story adds another twist. Patriots owner Robert Kraft stands as a Hall finalist. ESPN once reported tension between Kraft and Belichick. A team spokesperson later denied claims that Kraft hurt Belichick’s job chances.
The Patriots now head to the Super Bowl against Seattle. Belichick will watch from the outside. The debate around his legacy shows no sign of slowing.
