President Donald Trump made some time to watch some NFL football on Sunday, and something the New York Giants did had him confused.

The Giants blew a double-digit lead and lost for the fifth time in 11 games this season, but if that was your takeaway from a 34-27 overtime defeat at Detroit.

New York Giants interim head coach Mike Kafka is facing a ton of criticism over a fourth-down attempt in a 34-27 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday at Ford Field.

While having a three-point lead with 2:59 remaining in the game, Kafka opted to go for it and called a pass play on fourth-and-goal from the Detroit six-yard line. It failed as Jameis Winston’s attempt fell incomplete, and the Giants turned the ball over on downs.

It was a moment that had Malik Nabers deleting a tweet accusing the team of intentionally losing.

The highest office in the country was also in disbelief.

Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers, who has been out for the season since tearing his ACL, fumed on social media in the wake of Sunday’s defeat to the Lions, and it appears Donald Trump shared the same sentiments.

Donald Trump slammed the New York Giants for their “crazy” decision not to kick a field goal and extend their lead to six points. It was a move that ultimately cost the Giants, as the Lions ended up marching down the other end of the field, kicking a game-tying field goal, forcing the game into overtime, and then scoring a touchdown in the extra quarter and winning.

Trump took to social media and called out the team, saying, “Why did the New York Football Giants (NFL) not kick that Field Goal???” the president wrote on Truth Social on Monday.

“Who would have done such a thing? It was CRAZY! I got to watch the end of the game and thought, when they went for the touchdown instead of the 3, ‘That’s Weird!!!’”

Giants interim head coach Mike Kafka defended the play after the game, saying, “We did want to be aggressive.”

“Just thought it was a good time to take points in that situation and go up two scores. Had a good flow, wanted to go up two scores.”

The Giants fell to 2-10 on the year and were eliminated from playoff contention.
