Britt McHenry no longer works for ESPN, but she’s still involved in the media world.

She is forever remembered for the time she berated a towing company employee in 2015. McHenry was suspended by ESPN and settled her lawsuit in 2021. She also had a 2019 sexual harassment lawsuit against Fox News.

Things got incredibly frightening for her regarding her health in 2020. McHenry tweeted a photo from her hospital room as she prepared for brain surgery. She went to get an MRI for her neck and her brain, but would reveal 24 hours later that she’d received “good and bad” news in the aftermath.

It was so bad that she said surgery was “imminent.” She fortunately made it out okay.

Fast forward to 2026, and Britt McHenry is speaking on her journey.

Britt McHenry Recalls Her Frightening Brain Tumor

Former ESPN reporter and Fox News commentator Britt McHenry underwent a successful eight-hour craniotomy at Johns Hopkins on March 4, 2020. The surgery was to remove a large, grade 2 astrocytoma from her left frontal lobe.

Since that moment, she has focused on recovery, sharing her journey to raise awareness about brain tumors and mental health.

On Wednesday, McHenry took to social media to speak out on the 6-year anniversary. “6 years ago, I had brain surgery for an astrocytoma brain tumor,” McHenry said.

“It should have been the scariest day of my life. I was weirdly calm and playing “Escape The Pina Colada” song on loop. Thank you to Dr. Henry Brem and Johns Hopkins for saving my life. Thank you to the check up MRI’s, health insurance (even if you’re expensive) and love and support from all those here.”

“If you can get through the toughest times in life, you can get through anything. 🫶🏻,” she finished with.

Social media sent her prayers.

“Glad you’re doing well now. Prayers definitely help,” one fan said.

“I remember when you announced your diagnosis, and what a shock it was. I’m glad you’re still here to talk about it. Enjoy your day,” a second fan wrote.

“Another huge blessing + milestone, congrats Britt,” a third person stated to Britt McHenry.

“Wishing you a speedy and full recovery 🙏🏾,” a fourth person added.

“Amen!!! So happy things are going well from this. We are so happy to have you with us,” one final person commented.

These days, McHenry has transitioned away from mainstream cable news. She has just been focusing on her life and her podcast.
