Football fans think they know who will meet the Seattle Seahawks in the 2026 NFL Kickoff Game, following their Super Bowl 60 triumph.

The Seattle Seahawks cruised to a 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60, claiming their second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history. Kenneth Walker III was named MVP after rushing for 135 yards in the biggest game of his career.

We now know that Seattle will host the NFL Kickoff Game in September. As ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted, there are nine possible opponents to meet Seattle in the 2026 opener at Lumen Field:

Fans think the NFL has an easy choice for Seattle’s Week 1 opponent in 2026.

“I mean… it’s going to be the Patriots lol,” one fan wrote.

“Patriots vs. Seahawks opening night next season,” said a user.

“it’s going to be a rematch against the patriots. 100%,” wrote a fan.

“Opening night against the Patriots would be perfect revenge storyline after beating them in the Super Bowl,” quipped another.

“HAS to be the Rams, Patriots, or Chiefs,” a user added.

“Probably the Patriots in a rematch, right? The NFL loves to start the season with something like that,” said a fan.

The Seahawks and Patriots will meet in 2026 under the NFL’s “17th game” format, as both clubs won their divisions this season. It will mark New England’s first trip to Seattle since the 2020 campaign.

The Seahawks finally won their second Super Bowl championship after losing to New England in Super Bowl 49, eleven years earlier.

Most of their core players are under contract long-term. Extending Walker oughta be a priority after his tremendous season (1,027 rushing yards and five touchdowns, per Pro Football Reference). But otherwise, GM John Schneider doesn’t have too much on his offseason to-do list.

Next season will also mark the fourth straight year that we have a Super Bowl rematch in the season after the big game. The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs in their 2023 and 2025 rematches. Kansas City beat San Francisco in their Super Bowl rematch during the 2024 season.
