Former Raiders center Glenn Robbins has passed away at the age of 52.
Robbins spent nine years with the Raiders after they selected him in the second round of the 1995 NFL Draft. He was a first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler in 2002.
The ex-center was the leader of the offensive line that led the team to the Super Bowl that season, but he wouldn’t feature in the game.
Former teammate Tim Brown announced his passing via social media on Friday morning.
“Good evening! it’s with great regret i tell you i just received a call from Marissa Robbins informing me that Raiders All Pro center Barrett Robbins passed away overnight. Thankfully, he passed peacefully in his sleep,” Brown shared.
“Please pray for their girls, his family and tons of teammates who will be affected by this!” he added. “It’s unfortunate that his life was never the same after he was not allowed to play in the Super Bowl! Rest Peacefully BR, you deserve it!”
Robbins’ cause of death is unknown.
Barrett Robbins Was Deeply Troubled

Robbins’ career and life unraveled after he missed the Super Bowl in 2003.
The former center went AWOL from the team the day before the game and received a suspension.
He told ESPN he suffered a bipolar episode and believed the Raiders had already won the game, although it hadn’t even happened yet.
“The hardest part to me is that the feeling I had was that the game was over and we had won and that was the way I felt. That’s the way my brain was functioning to take the stress off or to alleviate whatever it was, and I don’t know why, but that’s what was going on in my brain and that’s … it’s crazy to me,” he said.
The Raiders lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Robbins returned to the team the following season, making nine starts. They released him in 2004, and he never played again.
He endured lots of personal issues and arrests after football.
Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
