Newly released law enforcement body camera footage has exposed the tense moment Tony Romo was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

The newly surfaced footage reveals a disoriented Tony Romo trying to explain his late-night travel to the police officers.

Initially, the retired football star informed deputies that he was driving to visit his grandparents. He had just completed competing in the Wisconsin Amateur Championship earlier that day. However, police officers immediately noted that the prominent CBS sports personality possessed red, glassy eyes. Furthermore, authorities smelled a distinct odor of alcohol on his breath.

During the encounter, Romo repeatedly demanded to call his lawyer before exiting his Jeep. The law enforcement official denied the request and ordered him to step out onto the pavement.

Before beginning the physical tests, Romo asked if he could stretch on the police cruiser. He proceeds to do so.

Subsequently, the field sobriety exercises went poorly for the famous athlete. Romo severely botched the test balance requirements and requested repeated instructions.

When deputies asked if he understood the physical tasks, Romo replied that there were simply too many directions. Ultimately, police officers arrested Tony Romo on suspicion of OWI.

Following the arrest, court records indicate that Romo refused a breathalyzer test at the station. Because of this refusal, his driving privileges are now in serious jeopardy. Wisconsin state authorities could suspend his license for one year.

According to TMZ, Romo requested a formal hearing to challenge the citation. This incident marks the very first arrest for the 46-year-old broadcaster.

Meanwhile, Romo withdrew from an upcoming Texas golf tournament. His scheduled court intake in Milwaukee is set for September 21, 2026.
