Fact Check: Is Josh Allen Changing His Jersey Number For 2026 Season?
This article was originally published on Total Pro Sports.

For the 2026 NFL season, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is hoping to have a much better ending than he did this past season. The 2024 MVP had a tremendous 2025 campaign, but it ended in playoff heartbreak yet again.
This week, he has social media going crazy after the team posted about a few players who have jersey number changes.
After spending the past several years with the Miami Dolphins, outside linebacker Bradley Chubb signed a three-year, $43.5 million deal with the Buffalo Bills. Chubb told reporters he will be wearing No. 9 with the Bills.
The Buffalo Bills officially signed former Atlanta Falcons cornerback Dee Alford to a three-year contract. He is also changing his number to 23.
Aside from those two, Allen also had a jersey number change. Many fans thought it was Josh Allen.
While the Bills do have a quarterback named Allen who is changing his number, it isn’t Josh. Rather, quarterback Kyle Allen will wear the number 11.

Josh Allen Is Fresh Off Surgery

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen underwent successful surgery in late January to repair a broken bone in his right foot.
His surgery came after the team was ousted in the Divisional Round of the playoffs yet again. The Bills decided to fire Sean McDermott after a nine-year run with him as their head coach. It was a decision that led Allen to place the blame on himself. The team has since replaced him with Joe Brady, promoting the former offensive coordinator to HC.
Allen now has a 0-7 career record in overtime. His best chance to make it to the Super Bowl slipped through his fingers. This past season, Josh Allen threw for 3,668 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, completing 69.3 percent of his attempts.
He started all 17 games despite sustaining a broken foot in December.
